Our Team

President & CEO

Paul Finkle

Paul Finkle founded SharedHR as an HR consultancy in 1980. Over his 30-year career in management consulting, Paul has served as a senior advisor to thousands of entrepreneurial employers and has personally founded seven startups. Paul has always had an entrepreneurial passion, starting his first business painting houses while in high school. Since then, Paul has founded numerous ventures, negotiated over 300 labor contracts, and continues to serve as an expert witness in employment lawsuits.

Paul has presented numerous seminars, written extensively in the field, and has lectured at universities including a regular guest lecture series at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Paul has served on the small business committee of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the board of The Consortium for Children as well as the advisory boards of several client companies.

Paul loves to spend time with his wife and children. He can regularly be found in the outdoors, camping, hunting, or fly fishing. He has also lived abroad in both Spain and Argentina.

Executive Vice President/Principal

Malcolm Whyte

Malcolm has over 25 years of business experience in a broad range of operating and human resources management roles. On the operating side, his experience ranges from the establishment of start-up companies, to a variety of corporate management positions within Berkshire Hathaway and DuPont. Malcolm co-founded SharedHR and oversaw the development of a suite of web-based, innovative HR applications. Malcolm’s consulting practice provides clients solutions in the areas of interim HR executive management, compensation, organization design, recruiting, and employee development. In his role as an outsourced executive, Malcolm served as Vice President of HR for a 400-employee workers’ compensation organization with offices in San Francisco, Pasadena, and San Diego.

VP, Professional Services

Saul Macias

Saul has more than 20 years of HR experience in human resources with extensive experience working with for-profit and non-profit organizations. He has specific expertise in managing strategic projects including Organization Development and Design, Performance Management, HRIS vendor selection and implementation, Organizational Culture, Recruiting and On-Boarding, Succession Planning, and Employee Relations. Prior to joining SharedHR, Saul was Director of Human Resources at the Stupski Foundation, one of the country’s most influential foundations in the K-12 education space. Before that he served in various HR leadership roles at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, one of the country’s largest private foundations.

Saul also worked as a manager of organization development for Scient, an eBusiness consulting firm. He is currently Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Northern California Human Resources Association and an advisory Board Member of San Francisco Education Fund and Achieve Mission. Saul is fluent in Spanish and English. Prior to SharedHR, Saul started and ran his own HR consulting firm.

Saul can be found on weekends racing cars in endurance races. Along with his wife and sons, he is also active in Boy Scouts of America, serving as the Cub Master for his sons’ local pack.

Senior HR Consultant

Amy Kelemen

Amy joined SharedHR after holding several in-house HR Manager/Director roles over the past 15 years. Throughout her career in Human Resources, Amy has supported business objectives from the HR perspective in a wide variety of industries including Retail, Branding & Marketing and Insurance.

Amy has deep HR generalist experience with a focus on manager coaching, compliance, leaves, employee benefits and employee relations. She has conducted numerous workplace investigations and successfully responded to complaints of discrimination, harassment and other employment issues.

Amy enjoys designing and creating HR functions from the ground up in startup and midsize companies and regularly supports CFOs and HR managers in resolving workplace issues. In addition to streamlining processes for benefits, policies, compensation, performance reviews and recruiting, Amy excels in the HR business partner role with managers. She brings a level of versatility, skill, experience and perspective that she customizes to fit the culture of her clients.

Senior HR Consultant

Brandi Gordon

Brandi has over twenty years of human resources experience, providing senior management and HR consulting to both large corporations and small businesses. She has served in a senior consultant role for the past 10 years providing ongoing outsourcing and project management to a variety of industries, including professional services, financial, non-profit, and healthcare. Brandi has served in senior roles including VP of HR for Wachovia, Regional HR Manager for First Union and HR Director for NRC. Brandi develops enduring client relationships and collaborates with all level of management to translate business goals into value-added HR strategies and practices.

Brandi brings a solid HR generalist background as well as specialized experience in employee relations, investigations, leadership and employee development, performance management, and employee communications. She is particularly astute in addressing the people issues while balancing risks and benefits for business leaders.

Brandi is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a certified facilitator. She has a BS in Human Resources Management and completed coursework for her MS in Organizational Communications.

HR Consultant

Jennifer Godsey

Jennifer joined SharedHR in November 2006. She is an experienced HR professional with over ten years’ experience in all aspects of HR and related administration in the manufacturing and payroll service industries. She provides clients with professional guidance on complex HR, employee benefits and business topics. The primary focus of her practice is designing and implementing flexible outsourcing projects for clients in a variety of industries.

Jennifer has deep experience is designing leading edge recruitment, hiring and employee development systems as well as interim HR assistance, HR assessments, employee handbook and policy development. Jennifer has expertise with web-based administrative data systems linking payroll, benefits and HR. Her responsibilities at SharedHR also include evaluating client data and integration needs as well as delivering hands–on insight to the development of SharedHR, the firm’s web-based HR system.

Jennifer is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR), which she received in December 2011.

HR Consultant

Heather Yates

Heather brings extensive expertise in payroll and employee benefits knowledge. Heather is familiar with many HR, payroll and benefits technologies in a variety of industries. She has managed HR and payroll teams for over 15 years ranging in size from 45 to 4,500 employees. Heather has a deep background in compliance and is conversant with the challenges of multi-state payroll, tax and HR compliance issues. She has a diverse background in driving administrative efficiencies in multiple industries including manufacturing, real estate, professional services, non-profits and health care.

Heather supports CFOs and managers with generalist HR services including wage and hour guidance, employee coaching, recruiting, onboarding and benefits administration. Heather earned her PHR in 2013.

Associate HR Consultant

Candace Emmer

Candace joined SharedHR in 2013. She has a broad range of HR knowledge with an emphasis in payroll, benefits administration, and employee on-boarding. At her most recent employer, a global commodities company, she processed seven payrolls for employees in 16 states and Canada. She was in charge of onboarding for several of their entities as well as the direct contact for separations, employee relations matters, and compliance for two of their companies in New York.

Candace graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a BA in Organizational Communication.

Office Manager

Cathy Cushing

Cathy joined SharedHR in 2005. She compliments our dedicated team of HR professionals by administering office systems, managing internal accounting functions, and overseeing benefits and internal HR processes. Cathy takes pride in providing quality customer service, problem solving and overall dependability.

Prior to joining SharedHR, Cathy spent 13 years in various office administration and accounting roles in a variety of industries including financial services, technology, and professional services.


Board of Advisors


James E. Sherman

James Sherman is an experienced financial executive with strong operational experience in mid-sized companies. Following two decades of merchant banking experience in Chicago, London, Sydney, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, he has served as CFO and COO of public and private companies. He now heads a private consulting practice that advises operating companies on efficiency measures, organizational and marketing strategies, and financings of debt and equity. James has served on both public and private boards, as well as actively guiding multiple philanthropic organizations. James graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. The father of three adult children, he resides in Marin County with his wife of twenty-eight years and two Labradors.


Tori Peterson

Tori Peterson is founder of Peterson Marketing, specializing in business and marketing strategy development, customizing her approach to fit the specific needs of her clients. She has provided strategic business services including business and marketing strategy development, alliance programs, new business development, and new product development to consumer products companies, web-based service companies, enterprise software companies, and a philanthropic venture fund. Her strengths lie in her results-orientation, her planning and organizing skills, her strategic mindset, and her general enthusiasm.

Prior to founding Peterson Consulting, Tori spent nine years in brand management and business development at The Clorox Company where she managed established products, as well as new products and new food segments for Hidden Valley Ranch and K.C. Masterpiece. She pioneered the Licensing/Alliance Programs for the Food, Kingsford, and ArmorAll Divisions. Tori holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
